Nowadays, an active and engaging social media account plays a key role in helping spread the word in an efficient way. Our social media teams, like Instagram and TikTok, have been making content for On the Same Page Boston in order to raise awareness for our mission. On these platforms, engaging through commenting, liking, and sharing helps boost views and motivates others to donate books.

For example, Amnesty International, a human-rights non-governmental organization was able to gain 2 million followers on Twitter, spreading awareness for their mission and increasing the amount of people involved with their projects. On Instagram, the World Wildlife Fund and Greenpeace are two instances of nonprofits with over 4 million followers. By posting consistently and making high-quality content, nonprofits are able to receive more

donations than they ever could before thanks to social media’s reach.

Our own students feel that they are making an impact, too. "It has helped us reach a younger and broader audience, especially for others who might not know about us otherwise. Our mission encourages people to donate to the school we are working with. We are sparking action through convenient communication,” says Alexandria Paul, a member of the Instagram team. While TikTok is a newer platform, it also is responsible for increased education around the topic. Regarding our own TikTok, member Matthew Olaince says, “It (TikTok) has gotten a lot of engagement. A lot of people have been able to see how this fundraiser has transformed. The engagement and viewership reflects positive feedback on how we can grow and improve."

By continuing to focus on making quality content for our social media, we can expand our outreach and increase awareness about the importance of literacy for children and motivate new people to donate and get involved with the cause.
