A poem by Nirvana Ragland
Every day on her way to school, Ramona would sit on the right side of the bus, in the third row, to be exact.
The seat was worn, but she couldn’t be bothered, for it was the side that was best.
There it was, that bookstore with all the vibrant covers and, there, a particular book in the
window that stood out from all the others.
Ramona stared at it each day as the bus whizzed by, wishing she could have a copy of that book with a sigh.
The cover showed a girl who looked just like her, with curly coils sprouting all over.
For Ramona, a book like that was but a dream; the ones at school were few and far between.
She’d read them what felt like a hundred times, to the point that some barely had their spines.
Oh how Ramona wished for a book that was new, but where would she find one? She had no clue.
Ramona’s parents could barely scrape by, so new books were an idea that she cast aside.
With On The Same Page Boston Ramona’s dream can come true; forget about one book she’ll have a few!
They’d have characters who looked just like her and stories she’d never heard before.
There’s thousands of kids just like Ramona; if you have books to donate, send them right over!
Just a reminder: tomorrow is the last day for book donations! If you've been waiting to donate, now is the time!
